Lion and the Lamb
The snow was being stripped fast on Sunday, so rather than climb we headed up to the Lion and the Lamb for a ramble over the crags and hills near Grasmere.

As the M6 closed, we battled on through the Blizzard to the Lakes on Friday night. Greeted by mostly clear skies and high winds on Saturday morning, myself and Clay headed up onto Brown Cove Crags to climb Right Buttress Crack.
It was a fairly intense day with no goggles, heavy spindrift, 3 left gloves and chest deep powder in the gullies, but a good chance to try out the GoPro in some poor weather.
Some pretty incredible conditions up in the Lake District over the weekend. Extensive snowfall and clear sunshine had left the hills covered in great powdery drifts. Totally out of condition for climbing mind, although it didn't stop Will & Harry from backing off of a route or two.
In very poor visibility, with spindrift flailing across the mountains, we completed a New Year's Day traverse of Ben Nevis up the tourist track and down the CMD. There was some very exciting nav across the final 1/3 of the climb, and the descent off of the ridge was fairly epic. Many thanks to Charlie Beard for all of these photos. Happy 2012!
