Great Central Route

Another lovely evening in the Avon Gorge, taking advantage of my desk-to-belay time of 15 minutes. This time it was a climbing blind date with Lee from the AMC and we wandered up the mini overhangs and rusty pitons of Great Central Route at Main Area.

Haytor

A day out to Dartmoor with Cat and Louise for some acrobatic routes on the windy side of Low Man. We ran up Raven Wing and then fell off of Outward Bound a couple of times before heading home. All ascents are easier in lycra.

Bristol Street Race

Something different, Cat, Louise and myself ran the Bristol Orienteering Street Race in the morning which Erinna was helping to organise. Despite our initial fears, we avoided all of the purple lines and nobody got disqualified!

Fairy Cave with Steve

Steve and I made a trip to Fairy Cave to sweat our way up a clutch of after-work routes. Teetering up Four Steps to Heaven was a particular highlight of the evening, matched only by Steve's discovery of Elysium (Ultrabeat) on the journey home.

Peak Limestone Gritstone

Our morning began on Gabriel and the Pearly Gates at Stoney Middleton. A tremendous downpour meant we beat a hasty retreat which pleased Blackmore, whose intolerance for jagerbombs the night before had turned the polished limestone from solid Type 1 fun to very sketchy Type 2 fun.

The weather soon cleared so we nipped across to Stanage for a trip up my last remaining Peak Classic Rock. Quite a contrast in rock from the morning's route!
